Newbury Park Family Photographer – The Yamamura Family

This might be the first time I have blended two shoots into one blog post, but I am that behind so it only made sense make them as one. Also, if you scroll to the very bottom, you will see why it makes perfect sense to blog them together. With every belly to baby package I put together a little movie from both sessions. I love the way this one turned out.

For the belly pictures we went out to our scorched mountains and hiking trails. I love how the new life sprouting in the hills goes together with the new life sprouting in her belly. This family is so fun to photograph. The girls are so playful and love the camera and the parents are so relaxed and photogenic. This is the second time I got to work with them and it was great. The newborn session was at their home and I while we did some cute posed newborn pictures, I was also able to capture some great lifestyle shots. I am so happy with the way this all came together. These girls are such good big sisters already. I was also very happy to get Grandma and Grandpa in some pictures too. The girls will cherish those images when they are grown ups.

Thousand Oaks Family Photographer – The Kaup Family

These gorgeous sisters were so entertaining. I have known mom since high school and I was so honored that she chose me to photograph her family. It was so fun hanging out with these girls and getting to know them. I love the fact that they wore wings for the majority of the shoot. So super cute. I love how affectionate mom and dad were. I just looked up and saw their embrace and said “So cute, don’t move!” I always try to capture a “couples” shot at every family session, but sometimes I forget. The kids grab the majority of my attention and I’ll find myself driving home and hitting my head for forgetting the couples shot. This was too easy for me. I am super thankful. We had fun with the autumn leaves and the stage at Peter Strauss ranch. I love the family shot (3rd from the top) so much because it’s a moment of silliness. These girls had lots of silly in them and I loved every minute of my time with them.

These parents will NEVER have to worry about their kids not cooperating for the camera. These sweet girls LOVE the camera. Nothing about this shoot was forced, yet these girls were like little models stopping to pose while full of extreme cuteness. I think I only asked them to jump for a shot. The rest of the shoot was all them. Little Brooklyn was just coming down with a cold and double pink eye. Such a trooper. Not once did she seem unhappy or ill. Older sister Madyson has a smile that is beyond perfect. These gorgeous girls made this shoot so fun and their parents were so cool and relaxed while letting their girls get dirtied up with leaf throwing and exploring. I am lucky enough to know these girls and their mama from preschool and was thrilled when they scheduled their shoot. It was really crowded this day at Paramount Ranch, but I think we did well avoiding the other photographers. Sometimes is better that way because it forces me to find different spots to shoot their pictures. I think it turned out great! 🙂

Ventura County Family Photographer – The Jacobs Family

Ahhh! Long overdue, this one, but I think it’s because I procrastinated. I didn’t want their story to be completed, but alas I am here to share with you the final shoot of their “baby’s first year” package. I ADORE this family and I don’t want the images to end. Thankfully, they know where to find me in case they decide to get some more pictures in the future. Grace is actually 18 months here, but since we started at 2 months old, I think it worked out well. I was able to document her as a newborn, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year (at her birthday party), and 18 months. Grace is the sweetest little girl. And gorgeous! The first thing I saw when I walked into their house on our first shoot was that she has red hair. It’s gotten even more beautiful with age. This bundle of sweetness was so full of kisses for her parents during this shoot, it was adorable. Oh, and you wouldn’t know it by looking at these pictures, but she wasn’t being herself at this shoot. I think the new environment and being taken out of normalcy may have caused her to get a bit bummed out. She also seemed determined to explore and couldn’t be bothered with pictures. I knew she would come around though, and I played some music through my phone and she perked up for the rest of the shoot. I never want the parents to feel stressed at shoots if their kids aren’t feeling it because as you can see here, I walked away with SO many great images. So, please keep that in mind at your next shoot. If your kids seem like they are in a funk, don’t worry, it will all turn out okay. And even if you don’t get lots of smiles out of them, at least you are getting their genuine emotions from that day and that is who they are sometimes, right?

Conejo Valley Pet Photographer – Jessie

This is Jessie. She is pretty much the raddest dog. She is so sweet, loving, and beautiful. For a Christmas present to Jessie’s dad, we took her out to shoot images that would make up a calendar. It was really so much fun. I did remove her leash in a handful of shots in photoshop. She is the kind of dog that would have a field day unleashed. If she has a flaw, her mom and dad would say that is the only one. She really is a perfect dog. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot. I have also included what the finished product looked like. I am not a great product photographer, btw. 😉
