West Hills Family Photographer – The P Family

This session was awesome because it was full of activities. We started with story time in the family room. What I didn’t expect were dogs to be a part of the session and I am SO happy they came inside and joined us. The sweetest dogs ever! Love them and they LOVE their family so much, it shows. After story time, we walked to the park where there was some bubble blowing, some jungle gym, some nature discoveries for the baby, and some standing (which was new) for the baby. The kids were great the entire time and even indulged us in a posed family picture towards the end of the shoot. After the park we walked back home for a few last shots in their backyard. What I loved about this shoot (besides the fact that it was a story telling session) was that they included their nephew (cousin to the girls) and that was just so great. Family is MORE than your own unit and they really demonstrated that.

Why Hire A Photographer For A One Year Old’s Birthday Party?

Lots of reasons, but I will just list a few:

1. YOU can actually be in the pictures.

2. You can entertain without worrying about taking pictures.

3. Your photographer can capture your child as they are during the party and also behind the scenes ( this could also be mistaken for babysitting in which your photographer does not mind one bit).

This doesn’t only apply to a child’s first birthday either. It could be a 5th birthday, 80th, or even an anniversary party. Any party really. Why not have one less thing to worry about at your party and leave the pictures to the photographer?

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge – Summer Fun

This was a hot day and normally my son doesn’t like to be without even a shirt. But, somehow he was content with just a diaper. The kids were playing  and running with sticks (parent’s nightmare) and just before I put my camera away and had them dispose of the sticks, I caught this image of my son. I call it “The Conqueror”.Photo Challenge Submission

Simi Valley Family and Maternity Photographer – The R family

I have know this hot mama since I was about 6 years old. We became summertime friends. She lived in Utah but would spend her summers at her dad’s house which happened to be right across the street from my house. When she was a teenager, she spent a couple of school years in California and we became more than just summertime friends. As we reached adulthood, we lost touch. Not for long though, thanks to good ol’ Facebook. When I am with her, I feel like she is the same person I used to play with. It made this session extra fun. Their son Mr. H was a crack up. We had to work a little to engage him and kept saying that we found a cool bug. He was so excited, but quickly caught on. Such a sweet boy and I am writing this knowing how sweet he is with his new baby sister…although, he wasn’t interested in proving that too much during their newborn session (blog post coming soon) but he did give her lots of kisses when we only asked for one.

The shoot just consisted of taking a stroll around this park. It was a beautiful evening and Mr. H was having fun. The last image is an outtake more or less. I just love it. It’s mama negotiating with her son and asking for just one more picture. He didn’t go for it, but he did do an amazing job of  lasting the whole hour without any complaints.

When I shot this image, I noticed his nails were painted. He then allowed me to get a fingernail shot. Love it!
