I was so sad when our baby’s first year with Grayson ended, but I must be the luckiest girl in the world because I had the honor of doing another shoot with him in the fall. It was a foggy morning but it burned off quickly, a gorgeous day overall. Grayson had a fun morning going to the park and then to the pumpkin patch. It became a bit warm out and he was not feeling good in his Halloween costume, but I think his parents will agree that his diaper pictures are the cutest pictures ever! His mood brightened significantly once that costume came off. I love it when things work out that way.

Moorpark Lifestyle Photographer – Grayson at 18 Months

I just love this little dude. He was the smiliest newborn I have ever photographed and getting to document his first year was such an honor. I was lucky enough to get to see him again at 18 months for this shoot and then again in October and even again just recently to document his 2nd birthday party. I hope I don’t have to wait too long before getting to see them again! 😉 This shoot was special because we got to include Grayson’s grandparents in the shoot. I also love how his parents really wanted to document one of Grayson’s favorite pastimes at the shoot: playing with the sink. He got drenched and had a blast. It was so great to document and I am so happy to have been able to capture it all for them.

Show Your Walls At Home Some Love!

I have lived in my house for 5 years with pretty much BLANK walls. I finally found a lab that offers something super cool. CIRCLE PRINTS!!! So fun and I feel safe with them on my walls because they are very lightweight. They are mounted on white foam board and I just bought some velcro to stick them onto my walls. So easy! The largest size that I had ordered is 12 inches in diameter and the smallest was 6 inches in diameter.
I want you to have some circle prints too! If you book a shoot with me before March 31st, you will get 3 circle prints added to your photo package (any size up to 12″ valued at $150). Moorpark Family Photographer – Baby Grayson 3 Months Old

Oh my cuteness! What a delicious baby! I am documenting Grayson’s first year and this was his 3 months session. I was supposed to take the pictures on the day of his baptism, but was home sick and my husband filled my shoes. So, I got to go see this happy guy a little later for a mini session.
This Mama has the sweetest neighbor who comes over with food, comes over to help, and can make Grayson smile in an instant. I made sure to include a shot with her in it. What a lucky and LOVED little guy. =)

This collection of images were taken by my husband Brian. I came down with the stomach flu and couldn’t even stand up straight. So, he offered to shoot it for me. He did an AMAZING job! I am so thankful!! I did all the post production and in that process, found too many good images. It was hard to narrow down. Here are some of my favorites:

Moorpark Newborn Photographer – Baby Huntington & His Big Brother Hayden

These brothers are just GORGEOUS! Big brother Hayden was such a good boy and is such a good big brother. While on the bed he was trying to tuck Huntington in, he was giving Eskimo kisses and he was measuring their feet. It was too sweet. Huntington wasn’t too keen on the idea of sleep. Mom and Dad wanted to go for the super cute posed shots with knit hats and even a hammock (which I had never done before) but Huntington had other plans. He wanted mom. He wanted milk. He wanted to be awake. I LOVE when I get the opportunity to get shots with their eyes open, so I was thrilled. In the end, we made the posed shots work. As much as I love the posed shots, I have decided to take them all off my website. With three kids of my own, I just don’t have the time or patience to spend so much time in Photoshop making the posed images perfect. And because I am not a perfectionist, I don’t feel like forced posed shots are really my area of strength, anyway. I am a lifestyle photographer. I prefer to document life as it is because those are the images that I feel are more meaningful in the end. I am SUPER happy that I was chosen for this shoot because not only was this family awesome, the shoot really allowed me to dive into the posed images one last time to see if it is something I want to continue doing. It was a fun and challenging experience. I have had another newborn session since this one and again, did some posed images with props and all. It was hard to walk away from the challenge, so I couldn’t help myself. If the baby is sleeping, or awake and content, then why not, right? As long as it isn’t forced, I will go for it. As long as the baby is in a natural pose and happy. Newborn sessions are my favorite and I hope that I can continue to keep it at least 90% lifestyle and 10% posed. At the bottom of the post, you will see a short movie that I put together from the shoot. At each newborn shoot and all baby’s first year shoots, I am doing a bit of live footage as part of the photo package.

Moorpark Newborn Photographer – Happy Baby Grayson

This handsome little guy is Grayson. He was in this belly just a couple of weeks before I got to meet him. For this newborn session, we did two shoots. The first shoot went very well, but he was VERY hungry. He only wanted to eat and we couldn’t get the perfect sleeping picture. I wanted to come back and try again a couple days later and I am so glad I did. He was having the happiest dreams and I was able to capture some big smiles. I get to document his first year and I couldn’t be more excited. By the next shoot, I am hoping to get some awake smiles. I will be documenting his baptism, and I don’t think most babies smile about those, but I will certainly try to get a smile out of him. His parents are so great and it was such a joy to see them fall into the roles of mom and dad so well. Before Grayson, they were just the parents of two very adorable boxer dogs. I had to include a shot of them. They weren’t sure about me, and I don’t blame them. They have a precious baby to protect. I hope some of our future shoots will include them, how cute will that be? Stay tuned for next month’s 3 month old shoot/baptism. So excited!
I have started filming little videos at each session (so far just the two) and I plan to take more video up until his last session. I am quite the amateur, but I fully intend on including a short film in the baby’s first year packages to give at the end of the year. I hope that by the end of Grayson’s first year, I will be a much better filmmaker. If I get good enough, I will include it in some other packages too. Moorpark Maternity Photographer – The Miracle Baby

I enjoyed being around these two SO much! They were so natural in front of the camera and took very little direction. They were just enjoying each other’s company. lots of laughter and affection. They made me feel so happy the whole time. I love when I feel a connection with my clients immediately and it’s a good thing too because we are doing a baby’s first year. I have already shot the newborn session and I can’t wait to finish those and share them. Such a wonderful little guy! When I shot this, mama told me that this baby is their “miracle baby” because they had been trying to conceive for quite some time. Well, I am sure they agree that he was definitely worth the wait. A really sweet boy. Just wait until you see his sleepy smiles. 🙂
For this session, we decided to keep the shoot easy and go to one of my favorite parks because mama was on bed rest. This park is great and somehow we got this amazing haze/fog towards the end of the shoot that gave us some gorgeous light. Just a nice compliment to this adorable couple. They have fallen into the parent role perfectly and it was such a privilege to have witnessed that. I can’t wait to see the changes throughout the year.
