Not too long ago I photographed Owen’s 6 month pictures for his baby’s first year and here I am just getting to blog his newborn shoot. This was new for me to document this little bundle and try to keep the focus on him because I had documented Grace’s first year too. It was challenging at first keep the primary focus on Owen. But, I was happy to also have been able to document Grace in her new role as sister and big sister. She was a little shy at first, but then enjoyed showing how good she was in her new role. What a gorgeous and sweet family! I am so honored to be able to document this time in their lives.

Grace has been such a joy to be around for her “baby’s first year”. I love her! I am so happy that I was able to document her first birthday party, too. Seriously, NOTHING compares to being present for your child’s birthday party by hiring a photographer to document the day for you. It takes so much pressure off of the parents AND both parents actually get to be IN the pictures with their child. I can say with major regret that my children will grow up thinking that Mommy was never at their birthday parties. I need to take my own advice and hire someone to take pictures next time. It really does make me sad to not be able to see myself with my children in pictures from their big day.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for this day. Mom and Grandma did some amazing decorating for this party. I was so impressed. Everything went really well and I even had a chance to make a little short video which is at the end of this long (and overdue) post.

Oh boy this post isn’t short because I loved this session and I love this baby so much. Little Grace has my heart. She is so sweet and ADORABLE! She is funny too. She amazes me. She is so little and standing and walking with a walker and she is also so bright. She would probably call me out on that run on sentence that I just typed. HAHA! No, really though, she is incredibly bright. I am so excited for her upcoming one year shoot AND birthday party. I really lucked out with being this family’s photographer. They are awesome.
So, for this shoot, we decided to document some of the things that define Grace at 9 months old and also we decided to have her experience her first visit to the park. It was a bit chilly out but she was a trooper. She was so serious when we put her in the swing. Then her face started turning red and she sandwiched her thumb between her fingers. She wasn’t so sure. But after a few swings she was enjoying it. But, there was more to explore and she did some exploring. A first trip down the slide, some leaf handling, and some good old fashion grass pulling were on her agenda.
I really love to document a baby’s first year. I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite. But, it’s not only because I love babies so much, it’s because I get to witness the parents loving their babies so much. Parenthood is such an amazing gift and I feel like the luckiest person in the world that I am one. I also feel so lucky to be able to re-live the early days, the feeling of being a new parent through my clients. I really miss the early days and it is so refreshing to be reminded of what it was like.

This is my second time photographing this adorable family. You can see the first shoot here. I really had a hard time narrowing down for this post. Baby G is so adorable and was the sweetest thing for me all over again. She is such a happy baby and even though we picked a time of day that was less than ideal for her, she still shined. I am obsessed with her beautiful hair and those eyes. I assure you, I did not photoshop those eyes. They are AMAZING! I can’t wait to do her 9 month shoot this month (yes I am behind on blogging). Also, this backyard is a photographer’s dream. I feel so lucky to have clients that can offer new spaces for me to photograph in.
